Inspired

So I have found GOBS of new blogs this week and decided to try some new things.  Remember the bangs?!?!  Well they have also inspired me to make more conscious clothing choices.  Opinions on this shirt combo?  I haven't gotten brave enough to have the hubster take my pics, so a pic of my shirt/jewelry choice is all you get for now.  I paired it with black leggings and brown riding boots from Zulily!

Chambray from Old Navy 2.5 years ago, but similar to this (wrong colors though...sorry)

Sweater from GAP Outlet (closest GAP to me) last season

Necklace from my late grandmother.

My goal is to really start working harder on my outfits and sharing them with you!

Happy Friday!!

5 Random Facts

This is the first 5 Random Facts that I am participating in!

1.  I am OBSESSED with Zulily and Pick Your Plum.  At 8:00 sharp everyday, I check out the daily do's.  I was able to get 90% of my Christmas shopping done on Zulily this year.  Today Pick Your Plum has these adorable bouncy scarves for $5.95!!

2.  I am trying to "girlify" myself.  I have always been pretty low maintenance when it came to makeup, hair, clothes, etc.  However I am slowly getting the hang of it.  So much so that yesterday morning I was straightening my hair and decided I needed bangs...BANGS!  I haven't had them since 1991, but I got the scissors out anyways and started chopping away!

Isn't that scarf adorable?!?!  ZULILY!!  What do you think about the bangs?  I did a little more evening up this morning, but no pics.

3.  I am a hunter!  I have my own shotgun and love shooting clay targets with friends.  I also love to go out with the hubs and call crows, walk water ways for pheasant, and sit before daylight and wait for a big buck!  My husband, Joe, went this morning on his own and reported back that he found my deer, so I plan on heading out bright and early before work tomorrow to bag him...I.  AM.  SOOO.  EXCITED!!!!

4.  In high school people would call me Why because that was my favorite word.  I like to know why for everything...my husband has also discovered this and still loves me.  I am sorry class of 2004 for dragging things out longer than you all thought they needed to be.

5.  I am a crazy dog mom...we don't have kids, so we have 2 Jack Russell Terriers...Mungus and Foxy.

Foxy's favorite riding spot on road trips...she stayed there for an hour and a half!!  (I wear this headband a lot...especially on low maintenance weekends)

I am a novice blogger, and I am trying to get a following...please follow me! ;)

Really?!

Who the bleep gets pink eye, or in my case EYES, at TWENTYSIX YEARS OLD?!?!  Uggg...no amount of makeup would fix this, so I went without.

Enjoy this creeper!

Shotgun Sunday

Get excited, people!

I had a wave of crafty-ness come over me as I was hanging pics on my freshly painted wall.  It needed something else, and we love our hunting in this house, so how about raid the hub's reloading room for some "pretty" shells.

All this took was hot gluing the shells together using a cup as a mold.  I then hot glued burlap to the back making a pocket for my feathers and weeds.  To hang I nailed a couple small brad nails to the wall then pushed them through the burlap.  Total time about 15 minutes...FIFTEEN MINUTES!!

My dogs were not impressed.

Happy Sunday, ya'll!

Remember when I mentioned my enormous rear end yesterday?  Well at least the fact that I have put on a massive amount of weight?  I've tried the diet pills, the working out/eating right, the vitamins, protein shakes:  you name it.

WELL I have been taking a supplement since Friday and it is actually working!!  You can email me if you want to know more, but today my jeans slid on without the use of butter and spoons!

(Feeling slightly sexier)

Anyways, on a lighter (haha) subject:  our house has been one mini project after another.  This weekend I am sacrificing opening day of crow, pheasant, and quail hunting to PAINT!  This will be the first wall I have painted in the house, and I'm going solo on the project!  Can't wait to share pics of our house as it's slowly going from a bachelor pad to a marital mecca!

I still plan on having a little fun while the hubs is shootin' shi stuff with his friends.  My MOL and SIL along with myself are headed to the annual Santa's Attic held in a neighboring town every year.  The high school is turned into an craft and antique mall for the day and women flock to spend money they don't have.  I also love to steal craft ideas and make them at home on the cheap :)  Stay tuned for what I come up with!

Giving More, Hiding Less

I am a blog junkie.

Some blogs speak to everything this small town Kansas girl wishes she was brave enough to achieve.

(Kaelah Bee from Honey Bee in the City)

Others are the cause of my MASSIVE weight gain over the past 2 years.

(Courtesty Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Goddess Woman)

Then there are those that have THE GREATEST stories!

And CRAFTS!

And BABIES!

And all the little things in BIG form.

But what do I offer?  A quasi-photog, dog mom, wife, part time crafter (and even less time cleaner), cook (not to be confused with chef, mind you), and [in my mind] Goddess of the Forest Huntress...

WAIT a second!!  Maybe I do have something to share...maybe the first descriptive word I should have used was

LAZY!

I think it's time, as I approach my 27th year, to make a mark on this world where it's so easy to do if I would just TAKE THE TIME!!

My Thanksgiving resolution...Tell my story.  Share my photos.  And maybe even find a readership in the process!

See you tonight blog world :)

10 Gallons of Buttons and So Many Ideas!

Ever since Joe and I's wedding, I have LOVED buttons!

I have organized them in my "spare" time.

So here's my version of a button ring...

This is such an inexpensive craft to do. All you need is elastic, buttons, sewing needles, scissors, and thread...all which can be found at your local store!

First measure out a piece elastic the size of the finger you will use it on. Make sure there is a small amount of overlap, so you can sew the elastic together with your needle and thread.

After looping the thread through the elastic two or three times, add your buttons, and keep looping through!

Tie off the thread with a knot...

Ta-Da! These are so quick and easy to make! You can make one for every outfit.

Now it's your turn to experiment! Try a bracelet doing the same thing with more buttons on a longer piece of elastic!

I'm Back!

WOW!!  So much has happened since November 2010:  The last time I blogged!  Other than staying busy with photography, I got engaged!!  We're planning an October 22 wedding, which is right around the corner!!  Here's some pics to get me back up and running on the blog.  These pictures include some of my favorite things, people, and shots over the last 9 months - in no particular order!

Last 2 photos taken by the incredibly talented Landon Vonderschmidt.  Check him out on Facebook here!
